To book in your first Chiropractic appointment or sports massage, you can either use our website to book online, or call us. We’ll just need to take some general personal and contact information for your first visit and then you’ll be all booked in!
Before your first Chiropractic appointment or sports massage, you will be emailed a short intake form which should only take 5-10 minutes to complete. After that you will be all ready to come in for your appointment! Make sure to wear or bring suitable clothing.
For women, shorts and a vest top are ideal, but if you prefer not to wear these, please just bring loose comfortable clothing. We can offer you a gown if needed.
For men, please bring shorts. You may be asked to remove your upper body clothing if you are happy to.
Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors use a wide range of techniques (lots of these being hands-on), to help to restore function, increase mobility and reduce pain in the body. The most known technique that Chiropractors use is a spinal manipulation, where a small, fast, specific force is applied to joints in the spine or other joints in the body to help to restore motion to that specific area. Other techniques that Chiropractors use are listed on our website.
Chiropractic is a fast-growing profession in the UK and is regulated by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), and all Chiropractors at Backspace are registered by the GCC.
If you are unsure about if your specific needs fall within the scope of Chiropractic practice, you can have a look at our list of conditions Chiropractors are trained to treat, or you can get in contact with us via email or over the phone and we’d be happy to help!
In your first Chiropractic Appointment, your Chiropractor will first need to gather all the information they can about why you’re coming in to see us. They’ll do this by first talking to you and asking you questions, and then by performing some physical examinations and tests to gain a greater understanding of what your complaint is, and how to help you fix it!
After this, IF it is safe to perform treatment in this session your Chiropractor will treat you using treatment methods that they deem to be appropriate for you. We cannot guarantee that treatment will be included, due to the small chance that the Chiropractor deems it unsafe or inappropriate to go ahead with treatment if we suspect your complaint falls out of our scope of practice. In this case, we can help you seek appropriate care by referring you to a healthcare practitioner who would address your needs better.
All our Chiropractors at Backspace are more than capable of providing you with excellent care. You can read about our practitioners on our website which will give you some information on their backgrounds and training.
At Backspace, we combine wide variety of different techniques to treat conditions of the spine and limbs. Some of which include:
Doctors of Chiropractic are experts in the mechanics of the body. They understand how it should function and can diagnose and treat conditions of the spine and the limbs.
Some conditions we treat include:
At Backspace, your chiropractor will not just treat the symptoms, but also discover the root cause of your condition and give you bespoke corrective exercises to minimise the risk of re-injury.
After your first treatment, your Chiropractor will you a treatment plan, with a recommendation for how often they would want to see you to expect the best results from your Chiropractic care.
In terms of how you should expect to feel after your first treatment, this will vary for different people, with different bodies and different complaints, receiving different types of treatment. Before any treatment takes place, your Chiropractor will inform you the specific treatment techniques they want to use, the benefits of these techniques, as well as any potential side effects that you may experience after your treatment.
A common misconception about Chiropractic care is that it is expected to provide a “quick-fix”. Whilst Chiropractic care can provide quick pain relief for some, this is not always the case, and we cannot promise this. In any case, whilst a quick fix can provide short-term relief, our mission at Backspace is to provide long-term “once and for all” relief, and confidently believe we can help anyone lead a healthier, comfortable life, free from pain.
Payment for each of your appointments will be taken at the end of the appointment, either by your Chiropractor or at reception.
Backspace is a no cash clinic, and we only take card payments (we accept AMEX).
Backspace has a 24-hour cancellation policy, meaning cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment are subject to a cancellation fee of the full appointment price.
If possible, we can try to move your appointment to a different time during the same day with your chiropractor, however, we cannot promise to do so as a Chiropractor’s diary could be full.
We would appreciate as much notice as possible if you need to move or cancel your appointment, so that our Chiropractor’s time is freed up for other patients to get treatment!
Yes, we sell packages for both Chiropractic appointments and Sports Massages in sets of 6. Prices for these packages can be found on our prices page.
We have physical gift vouchers available at the clinic, so you can pop in and purchase at our reception. If you wish to buy a voucher, we’d only ask that, as our receptionists are only in the clinic for limited hours in the day, you let us know via our email (info@thebackspace.co.uk) so we can arrange a time when someone is at reception to help you purchase one!
Every insurance provider and insurance plan is different, so we urge all patients to check with their providers with regards to their individual plans who and what is covered before booking in your appointment so that you can be sure that you are happy with attending for treatment.
Backspace does not deal with insurance providers directly – our procedure is that you pay for your appointments directly with us, and then we can send you an invoice including all the relevant information necessary to reclaim this with your insurance provider retrospectively.
